More

You saw all of my flaws
And reminded me often
I begged and I pleaded
For that cold heart of yours to soften

You ignored my depression
You ignored me as a whole
The person who swore to save me
Sat back and watched me turn to stone

You padded our back account
Worked your fingers to the bone
Late nights at the computer
And left me all alone

You pawned it off as our future
Two wrinkly old lovers
Rocking peacefully on the back porch
In the heat of summer

I sank beneath the waves
In the storm of you
I got lost in the ocean
I didn’t know what to do

So that one fateful morning
I packed up everything I needed
In a tiny little bag
And I ran

Ran away from all my self doubt
And my self deprecating thoughts
I took back all my self worth
And remembered who i was

I am strong and I’m brave
And I’m worthy of my own love
How could i be more
When i was already enough

That one small step
Was the biggest leap
That I ever made
Planted that tiny little seed in my
Reflections grave

I watched it grow
I let it go
I focused on me
Instead of you

That spring I bloomed into a garden
That you wouldn’t even know
Refused to be your shadow anymore
Because I can stand on my own

I regret the way I left you
In the dark of the night
But I would have stayed when the sun came round
In the morning light

I took an oath
I loved you so
The hardest thing I ever did
Was let you go
