Moon Door

The moon shone bright
One night
A portal
To a bucket of stars.
I waltzed inside,
Keyless entry.
Swam with the fireflies
that drink of the night.
And the silence
Sang
the sweetest tune.
The morning dew
watched with envy
As I inhaled those dreams
that float from rooftops
carried by the breeze.
And when day
begged to break,
Precipice
Shook stardust
from my hair,
Asked Little Dipper
for a scoop.
A tiny snack,
Some pear soup.
Left longing
at the door.
For dances with stars
Come every eve.
One need only
Open sleep-dipped eyes.
And so I’ll go
each night,
with hope
You see this invite.
